Learn How to Care for Your Trees With Expert Articles and Seasonal Guides

Trees run on a different calendar to lawns and veggie beds. Work with their seasons and every job gets easier; fight them and you’ll pay twice. This is the calendar we hand to every maintenance-plan customer.
Winter (Jun–Aug): prune and plan
Deciduous trees are bare, so structure is visible and cuts heal fast in spring. It’s also the window for major crown work on natives, soil testing, cabling inspections and planting new trees while they’re dormant.
Spring (Sep–Nov): feed and mulch
Re-mulch to 75mm as soils warm, deep-feed hungry species, and check spring-flowering trees the week after blooming for their annual shape-up. Watch for psyllids and scale on new growth — early treatment is a fraction of the cost later.
Summer (Dec–Feb): water and storm-proof
Deep fortnightly soaks for young and stressed trees. Before storm season, walk the property: deadwood over targets, cracked unions, leaning trunks. A pre-summer safety prune is the cheapest insurance a tree owner buys.
Autumn (Mar–May): assess and tidy
Post-summer health check: epicormic growth, pest damage, root-zone compaction from dry months. Light formative pruning, hedge reductions and stump grinding all suit the mild weather.
Want it handled for you? Our annual maintenance plans schedule every seasonal task automatically — ask for a plan quote and never think about the calendar again.
